Arctida’s 2025–2026 Report
What we accomplished over the past year, how we’ve changed, and where we’re headed
Over the past year, we continued our efforts to increase transparency in the Russian Arctic. We analyzed major infrastructure projects, monitored kleptocracy-related, environmental, and climate risks across the region, and worked with media outlets, stakeholders, and the expert community. We also turned the data we collected into tools for journalists, experts, and civil society and advocated for change.
Despite mounting restrictions, we grew as an organization and became more resilient. We developed our first organizational strategy, strengthened our team, improved our internal processes, and adapted our operations after Russia’s Ministry of Justice added Arctida to the country’s register of “undesirable organizations.”
Read our annual report for a closer look at the results of our work in 2025–2026. It includes messages from Arctida CEO Nail Farkhatdinov and Arctida Co-Founder Ilia Shumanov; key figures and an overview of our publications, many of which were produced in partnership with media outlets and other NGOs; and a summary of the events we took part in or organized. We also explain what changes our work has helped bring about, how we developed our approach to advocacy, and what goals we have set for the future.
“We invite you to join us in looking at the results of our work and the changes it has helped bring about. One year is a short period when it comes to major change. Even so, today we continue to strengthen our analytical and investigative work while building the foundation for advocacy that can help move the region and its people closer to a sustainable future”
Thank you to our partners and everyone who has followed Arctida’s work, read and shared our materials, supported us, and helped draw attention to the Arctic!
