Investigative Journalist

Investigative Journalist

We are looking for an investigative journalist — a professional with OSINT skills, who can independently conduct corporate, financial, and/or environmental/climate investigations. Responsibilities
— Participate in investigative projects about the Russian Arctic; — Prepare investigative materials in collaboration with major Russian and international media partners; — Analyse affiliations of Arctic stakeholders; — Uncover connections between different interest groups in Russian Arctic regions; — Provide expert commentary.
Requirements
What we expect from a candidate: — Interest in the North and the Arctic; — Understanding of Russian regional and federal politics; — Familiarity with corporate reporting and ownership structures of companies across different jurisdictions; — Experience in import/export operations and supply chain analysis (identifying violations of export restrictions); — Experience in corporate or financial investigations, and OSINT skills; — Experience in writing analytical and journalistic articles; — Fact-checking skills; — Good knowledge of English, sufficient for understanding texts in English; — Independence and proactiveness; — Ability to work in a team; — Proficiency in investigative tools. It is beneficial if you have: — The ability to work with big data and statistics, and proficiency in R or Python; — Expertise in geology, petrochemistry, logistics, or climate change, or experience working with indigenous peoples in the Arctic; — Skills in geospatial analysis (GEOINT: satellites, tracking of ships, planes).

Climate and Environmental Analyst

Arctida is looking for a Climate and Environmental Analyst. We are seeking a team member who is not only capable of conducting in-depth analysis but can also confidently present their findings, build partnerships, and take ownership of an independent project.

Responsibilities
– Analytical work on climate change, environmental issues, and biodiversity in the Russian Arctic. – Development and implementation of research and awareness projects, including planning, timeline management, and coordination of external specialists. – Project planning, oversight, and reporting for one’s own area of responsibility. – Preparation of analytical materials: articles, reports, expert columns, and media commentary, as well as communication with the press. – Drafting the content of grant applications on climate and environmental topics. – Public and private representation of one’s work and the organization at events. – Collaboration with other team members and external experts. – Identifying and engaging niche experts. – Systematizing and sharing acquired knowledge within the team.
Requirements
– Higher education in ecology, bioresources, climate, journalism, political science, sustainable development, or related fields. – At least two years of relevant professional experience (in NGOs, journalism, analytics, or international projects). – Proven experience in independently managing projects, meeting deadlines, and coordinating workflows. – Demonstrated ability and readiness to publicly represent projects and the organization. – Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work with large datasets. – Native or fluent Russian; English proficiency at upper-intermediate level or higher. – Experience working with Notion (documentation, databases) and Slack (internal communication, integrations). – Understanding of the Russian context and experience working in the Arctic region is a strong plus. – Preference will be given to candidates residing outside of Russia.

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Specialist

We are looking for a Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Specialist. The specialist will be responsible for developing and implementing monitoring procedures, evaluating the effectiveness of our projects, and helping the team improve its work through data analysis and reporting.

Responsibilities
– Carry out Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) procedures within projects (monitoring activities, evaluations, training sessions); – Develop and maintain MEL-related documentation; – Design and implement new procedures and guidelines, and adapt existing processes; – Coordinate data collection and independently gather and analyze data based on project indicators; – Prepare interim and final reports for partners and the internal team.
Requirements
– Familiarity with project management principles and/or hands-on project management experience; – Proficiency in data collection and analysis methods, as well as research methodologies; – Basic knowledge of OSINT techniques; – Confident use of Excel, including formulas and data processing; – High level of written and spoken English; – Ability to prepare analytical reports and facilitate meetings and discussions; – Understanding of monitoring and evaluation (M&E) principles, guides, and manuals (training can be provided if needed); – Familiarity with Theory of Change and experience applying it (training can be provided if needed).
